SecurityRecruiter.com has been engaged by a CISO whom we know very well to assist in building an information security department that includes cyber security, disaster recovery, business continuity, quality assurance, security awareness and security training.

This newly created position will report to the CISO and will provide a mix of leadership, management and technical expertise to a global Fortune 300 organization. This is an opportunity to assist in building a disaster recovery program from the ground up. Relocation is paid and candidates from the US or Canada will be considered.

The Director, Disaster Recovery:

The Director of Disaster Recovery is responsible for developing, maintaining, testing and executing contingency and disaster recovery plans. The position will work with key personnel to assist them in developing impact analyses, identifying core dependencies and processes, identifying vital information resources, key personnel contact information and emergency procedures to be followed in order to successfully recover critical systems and services from a disaster and/or breach event. The position will monitor and maintain the currency of contingency and disaster recovery plans; ensuring the process and resource requirements are met in supporting the individual and enterprise corporate business continuity initiatives. The position will administer internal and external reviews of systems and services to ensure adherence to policies and standards, and to work with Internal Audit and Compliance groups to ensure the requirements are met.

Responsibilities:

• Develops, maintains, tests and executes contingency and disaster recovery plans for all critical services.
• Conducts business impact analyses and assists units to determine critical business processes, identifies acceptable recovery time objectives and recovery point objects, determines needed resources and identifies costs associated with the successful resumption of critical operations in the event of a disaster.
• Provides guidance to business process owners in establishing and maintaining their individual department or group business recovery procedures and works with business process or department owners to test their department or group recovery plans on an annual basis.
• Assures information resources required for recovery are properly maintained in a vital records backup program.
• Establishes disaster recovery testing methodologies; plans and coordinates the testing of recovery support and business resumption procedures in different functional areas.
• Assures that recovery procedures are effective for the restoration of key resources and for the resumption of critical business processes.
• Develops corporate emergency response procedures; distributes and updates emergency procedures to reflect changes in staff size, location, organization and home office facilities.
• Coordinates and assists recovery support and business and resumption staff during a disaster in the implementation of response and alternate operating strategies.
• Develops training and briefing materials to educate and inform the leadership staff on business continuity planning, emergency response leadership and support operations.
• Performs other work related duties as requested.
  
Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience in Information Management with demonstrated expertise in Disaster Recovery Tools and experience in creating Enterprise Disaster Recovery Programs, Policies and Processes.
• Five or more years of Information Security Experience in a leadership role.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Previous experience managing large scale enterprise projects to a successful conclusion, on time and within budget.
• Certifications: CISP, CISA, QSA, CBCP, PMP
• Experience with disaster recovery policy and management, and process development and improvement.
• Experience with IT facilities management, data center operations including backup and recovery experience.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent program and project management skills with proven ability to work in a cross functional environment to drive the implementation of projects.
• Strong interpersonal skills and negotiation skills to interface with management and staff at all levels within the organization and to deal with suppliers of disaster recovery services.
• Ability to work individually and in a team environment with minimal supervision and provide deliverables in a timely manner.
• Ability to train technical staff on how to draft disaster recovery plans and aid technical and business units in drafting and testing plans.
• Prior experience working in a large scale disaster recovery environment.
• Demonstrated experience with risk evaluation and control, business impact analysis, business continuity strategy development, emergency response and operations, developing and implementing incident management, contingency, disaster recovery and crisis communications plans.
• Understanding of security and systems change control concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to write reports, checklists, present ideas to peers and executive level management.
• PMP certification preferred or equivalent experience.
• Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or similar certification preferred or skills and knowledge that would lead to certification within 6 months.
• Expanded ability to define IT business strategy and contribute to the organization through their vision including the application of advanced knowledge of management principles and practices.
• Proven ability to facilitate effective meetings, information requirements sessions, advocate compromises and resolve conflicts.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with both IT personnel, executives and user communities (including the ability to negotiate credibly and persuasively and to resolve sensitive issues) with a variety of “stakeholders.”
• Ability to document effectively, using non-technical business terms and vocabulary that will be clearly understood by all users and co-workers. Ability to coordinate, facilitate and make presentations.
• Ability to work closely and harmoniously with business users and IT personnel on projects.
• Proficient knowledge of project management, organizational and team-building skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
• Ability to achieve results according to Budget Plan goals and objectives.
• Ability to develop and evaluate alternatives.
• Ability to make decisions and take appropriate action.
• Ability to establish and maintain priorities.
• Ability to effectively develop and use resources.
