Director, Software Quality Assurance
Las Vegas, NV has been engaged by a CISO whom we know very well to assist in building an information security department that includes cyber security, disaster recovery, business continuity, quality assurance, security awareness and security training.

This newly created position will report to the CISO and will provide a mix of leadership, management and technical expertise to a global Fortune 300 organization. This is an opportunity to assist in building a global cyber security program from the ground up. Relocation is paid and candidates from the US or Canada will be considered.

The Director, Software Quality Assurance:

  • Creates strategy and vision for how testing will be done for products being developed across the enterprise.
  • Leads the organization that is responsible for design, development and re-use of enterprise testing specialization and discipline into all products being developed internally and externally in support of various lines of business.
  • Partners with cross-functional IT disciplines to ensure test processes, practices and standards are executed for a defined scope of projects.
  • Manages third-party testing services.
  • Provides testing specialization expertise which includes the right balance of testing methodologies, procedures and practices unique to commercial off-the-shelf packaged solutions and in-house developed solutions.
  • Provides strategic and tactical direction in the performance of all levels of test within the Enterprise Test Center of Excellence.
  • Advises management and participates in setting the direction and policies related to business or engineering solutions and adoption of testing foremost to all products being developed.
  • Provides senior leadership and direction in the implementation of the enterprise test strategy, test architecture, standards, practices and processes.
  • Hires, performance manages, provides performance assessments, develops staff and makes compensation decisions for test personnel for a specialized software test group (Function, Performance, Integrated, Unit or System Test.
  • Sets vision and implements the enterprise test strategy and architectural framework.
  • Supports test activities in accordance with policies and standards.
  • Drives test deliverables on a project basis being responsive to schedule and quality requirements.
  • Designs tests with re-use in mind to fast track quality testing of products.
  • Implements test verification (e.g., Technical Reviews) and validation (e.g., Function Test or System Test) practices, standards, metrics, training, and processes).
  • Ensures that all direct reports and their teams are trained in the skills and tools of test, project management and other required competencies of the test function.
  • Participates in product readiness and release decisions.
  • Establishes fact-based measures of test efficiency, effectiveness and product readiness.
  • Partners with client groups to ensure that the testing strategy is understood; in use; test prerequisites are completed, and that test outputs are analyzed.
  • Manages personnel issues such as hiring, training, assessment, career and succession planning.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, Master’s Degree in Computer Science preferred.
  • 0 years leading test efforts for large scale application development projects; 5+ years of experience managing teams.
  • Demonstrated Leadership skills to include vision and futuristic thinking.
  • Software development experience required.
  • Specialized experience in testing for n-tiered and web development, test design and automation frameworks.
  • Specialized expertise in implementing testing guidelines and providing technical advice and counsel to application and technology development teams regarding test in support of accelerating product delivery.
  • Familiarity with Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) test-related tools.
  • Working knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle Methodologies such as Agile, XP and waterfall and the technology that supports them.
  •  Understanding of technology and its practical application to testing complex systems.
  • Ability to understand business drivers and propose test solutions to support the business need. 
  • Acts as a partner to the business and development teams to ensure testing is integrated into the overall product design and build-out.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, client and communication skills.
